In the retail industry over the last 20 years so much has changed. Businesses have always developed, adapted or improved but since around the turn of the century, retail and the way people shop has changed dramatically. This is largely thanks to advances in online shopping and the convenience and transparent competition this technology brings. After all it’s much easier to shop online.

Become Part of the Heaphys Story

Here’s a little bit about our ethos and how you can become part of our story.

At Heaphys it’s different. Yes, we’re a retailer of clothing for men but we’re what’s called an “Independent” retailer which means we don’t have to rely on huge turnovers and profits or occupy big spaces with lots of staff. Because we’re a small business and we run ourselves we can change and react much quicker than the big old high street multiple stores that are failing or have closed for good.

We pay our rent, buy our clothing from exceptional brands - who largely exist to support independent retailers, and sell it really well to the lovely people who live in, visit Warwick or make a special trip to Warwick to support indie retailers.

Having an online shop has been something we’ve considered but we don’t feel we need right now. Especially as there's a shift happening away from online shopping back to shopping in-store for those who prefer to see an item and try it on before purchasing and to avoid the hassle of returns.

That’s partly why we’ve been doing so well since the pandemic. People want to experience things again, interact with people and enjoy life. Coming to a shop like Heaphys (and the many others in Warwick) helps. We look after our customers and we make shopping hassle free.

"If you can ever feel at home in a job this is it" - Roz

Paul and I have worked in this shop for a collective 44 years and have worked together for 18, so we should know our onions. Although Heaphys is no longer a family business in the true sense, Paul and I make sure it feels like it is. We really look after our staff, appreciate them and reward successes. We asked Roz what she thought of working here and she said “If you can ever feel at home in a job this is it”

New staff always need some training and nurturing into the Heaphys way but once we get there we’re like clockwork. We’re currently seeking the perfect person to make our trio a quartet. If you think you are that person we want you to get in touch.

Could you see yourself selling quality clothing, suggesting shirt and tie combinations or helping to update and improve a man’s wardrobe? Or could you give a tour of our suit collection, merchandise the windows or help organise the hire wear department. Please send your CV and a covering letter to us if you think potentially working with us is for you.
